Product Description

Stunning Portugese cut Topaz from O'Brien's Creek in Far North QLD. This incredible bright gem gets its lustre from a very fine needle of silver Rutile, making it a one off spectacle of beauty. It has been cut with 144 facets in a modified Portugese cut, 6.60crt 11x8mm and is internally flawless aside from the Rutile hair that makes this gem exceptional. The topaz was fossicked by me and came from a 90crt piece of water worn rough which had made its own way to Earth's surface.
Topaz is a symbol of love and affection, and has been said to be an aid to ones sweetness and disposition.Topaz gets its name from the Greek word topazion, which may originate from the Sanskrit tapas, meaning, "fire."" The name might also come from the name of the Egyptian island of topazos (now St Johns island) in the Red Sea.
